Loaded Bell is proud to announce Christina Romero as our November Athlete of the Month!  Christina has been the poster child for hard work and consistency since day one.  Even during her early Foundations Program sessions, it was obvious she had drive, determination, and a willingness to put in the work.  She’s typically the quiet one in class, but don’t let that fool you.  She’s an absolute beast especially if running is involved!  Congratulations Christina on well deserved recognition.  Thank you for being part of the Loaded Bell family!

Where did you grow up? New Mexico

When did you become a member at Loaded Bell CrossFit? About a year ago

What do you do when you are not at Loaded Bell CrossFit? I am a manager at Intel. I enjoy working with people and seeing them grow. I am a mom of four wonderful children, 3 girls and 1 boy. I am an adventurer at heart and absolutely love to travel, but prefer outdoor adventures (hiking, rafting, kayaking, skiing, canyoneering, wakeboarding . . .) when traveling, and of course yummy local food.

How did you find out about CrossFit? I heard about CrossFit from friends, but never knew anyone who went. I was pretty bored at over gyms and needed to try something a little more challenging and fun.

When did you realize CrossFit is right for you? I realized that CrossFit was right for me pretty much the first week I joined. I felt challenged and every workout seemed to be an adventure, different every time.

What is your favorite WOD/movement? I don’t have a favorite WOD or movement probably because I like doing something different all the time. Even if I can’t perfect a movement, I still get a great workout and I am continually sore, feels good.

What is your least favorite WOD/movement? I don’t have a least favorite, but there are some I still can’t do. It doesn’t mean I don’t like the movements though, just means I need more practice.

What is one thing you have done at Loaded Bell CrossFit that you never thought you would do? This is a tough question because I have worked out my entire life and have tried a lot of different kinds of training. I also believe that when you think you can’t do something, you probably have the wrong mindset to begin with, so back to the question, what one thing have I done at Loaded Bell CrossFit that I never thought I would do? Partner workouts. I wasn’t a big fan of them at first, but CrossFit is more like a community and partner workouts are encouraging and fun too.

What motivates you during a CrossFit WOD? I like having a coach help and encourage the class. I work out harder with the encouragement.

What is something about yourself that we might not know? I have a wide background and have held various positions such as Dean of Students at small college, Finace Manager, Engineer, Project Manager, Database programmer, Registrar, and others, but the most rewarding and difficult experience has been being a mother.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started with CrossFit? Don’t give up. Look at the class as a new adventure and then class becomes fun turns into a great habit.
